Our Story
Some people say they lost a part of themselves when they became parents. For me, having children brought back a part of myself I’d missed.
Before I became a mum, and before my career as a lawyer, I loved to read, imagine, draw, paint and create. Then life got busy, and somewhere along the way, I stopped making time for those things.
Motherhood brought them back into my everyday life. There were stories to tell, things to make and whatever imaginary world the children had dreamed up that day.
When we moved overseas and began travelling more, I was always looking for ways to keep the children happily busy through flights, long waits and meals out, without reaching for a screen.
They loved stories, puzzles, pretend play and little hands-on tasks like doing up buttons and zips. Watching them play, I began imagining how I could bring those activities together in a book that could come anywhere with us.
I started sketching ideas and designing pages, drawing on the creativity and imagination I’d tucked away years before. I wanted to make something beautiful and well made, with plenty for little hands to do and room for their own stories and games. One by one, those pages became Wondertivity.
The collection has grown since then, but the ideas still come from life with children: what interests them, what they’re learning and what draws them into play.
Like every mum, I want the best for my children. That means choosing things that are safe, non-toxic, educational and engaging, while also giving them time to slow down, explore and enjoy being little. In a world that moves so quickly, I hope Wondertivity helps make room for those moments.
What began with my own children is now part of other children’s lives too, and that means so much to me. I hope the books I create become favourites in your family, just as they have in mine—packed for trips, pulled out on quiet afternoons and eventually passed on to the next little one.
