Firstly, they’re made of felt which is so unique, more durable, brightly coloured, and very engaging. Next, they are interactive – children with complex communication needs have more opportunities to be involved in shared reading experiences that integrate language, emergent literacy, and communication. Exploring each of the activities per page requires matching and problem solving – all fantastic opportunities for learning and communication development (i.e modelling of different words, pretend play, talking about how to do the tasks, using different question types). Finally, you can also use them in play-based speech therapy. They pair great with mini objects or picture cards related to your target sounds/words. Brilliant and versatile tool for the travelling speech-language therapist, I highly recommend these!
